Pence to speak at anti-abortion March for Life in Washington
Denise Leipold, the executive director of Northeast Ohio Right to Life, said the march would help educate people about the sanctity of life.
The women were excited to learn the nation’s Vice President will be marching as well.
We reached out to Planned Parenthood to see if they had anything to say about the march. “Meet a thriving toddler who was born at 24 weeks, and who, with proper medical intervention, goes on to have a long and healthy life”, she said.
On January 22, 1973, the Supreme Court issued its infamous Roe v. Wade decision that asserted a right to privacy in the Constitution that extended to abortion.
“The March for Life began in Washington, DC, as a small demonstration and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world”, according to the march’s website. It’s the 44th year of the march, but this time, many attendees said, is the first in almost a decade they feel their voices will be heard – and that’s because of President Trump and Vice President Pence. She said this year is different because of the new administration.
“If I’m truly for life then I have to be for women because women are the ones that birth that life”.
“Our voice might’ve been shut out last week, but pro-life is pro-woman”, she said.
The city of Grand Rapids alone plans to send 12 busloads of people to Washington, he said.
Anti-abortion activists have been energised by the Republicans snatching control over the White House and Senate, which they secured in November. “Life is winning through the generosity of millions of adopted families who open their hearts and homes to children in need”, stated Pence. They’ve chosen adoption for their children. “We won’t know what might have been if we allow an organization to convince our pregnant women that they have no choice but to abort the life and the potential within them”. And we will continue working on that, choosing life, choosing adoption: It’s noble and heroic.
“Every day is a fight for life, yet today is also a celebration of life”.
“My life and hers were at stake and she lived”. If you don’t want to have an abortion, it’s not OK for anyone to pressure you into having one. You give me hope. “I don’t discredit what anyone believes in”.
In a series of tweets, Trump expressed support for the march, stating: “The #MarchForLife is so important”.
