Penguins to play 18 nationally-televised games on NBC, NBCSN
In all, NBC and NBCSN will air 105 games in the 2015-16 season.
The national TV schedule is subject to change over the course of the season, but as of now, 12 of the 21 contests are exclusively for NBC and NBCSN while the other nine will be carried locally on Comcast SportsNet Chicago.
Eight of the Blackhawks’ NBCSN games will take place on the network’s Wednesday Night Rivalry series, including a game against archrival Detroit and two contests against their division rival the St. Louis Blues.
The Penguins will be tapped for NBCSN’s Wednesday Night Rivarly matchup six times: on October. 28 against the Washington Capitals, November 11 against the Montreal Canadiens, December 16 against the Boston Bruins, January 6 against the Chicago Blackhawks, February 10 against the New York Rangers and February 24 against the Boston Bruins. NBC will present Blackhawks-Ducks as part of the Thanksgiving Showdown doubleheader on November 27 at 5 p.m. ET.
They’ll also be a part of the “Wednesday Nightcap” on December. 9 versus Colorado, when their game against the Avalanche will come on immediately following the Wednesday Night Rivalry matchup.
The first National Hockey League game on United States soil in which Buffalo Sabres top draft choice Jack Eichel is scheduled to play against Edmonton top draft choice Connor McDavid will get a national television broadcast. That’s the most since NBC became the league’s primary U.S. broadcast partner.
