Pennsylvania special election: Saccone touts economy as Lamb spends millions
The vice president argues that Trump’s entire agenda is on the line in a race that is being viewed as a bellwether of a challenging midterm election cycle for Republicans.

Lamb called organized labor “the heart and soul of this campaign” during a Sunday rally with the United Mine Workers of America. They have a hatred for our president.
But Saccone has struggled as a candidate and a fundraiser while Lamb has shined.
And when these less liberal Democrats make it to Congress, they still vote with their party the vast majority of the time.
Monmouth University released a survey just as the confectionery tour began, showing Lamb ahead in three turnout models, all of which were within the 5.1 percentage point margin of error.
President Donald Trump dominated the district in 2016 and has offered his backing to Saccone.
Trump Jr. has said the solution is to go hard in running on what his father has accomplished “and the future”. “Get out there and vote”.
Lamb answered the criticism by saying he wouldn’t support Pelosi as floor leader, much less as speaker if the Democrats should retake control of the House.
“I hate to put this pressure on you, Rick, they’re all watching”, Trump said Saturday.
Lamb also proved to be a formidable fundraiser, with supporters giving almost $4 million.
Former Republican Rep. Tim Murphy had represented the area. The AFL-CIO estimates there are 87,000 votes from union households in Pennsylvania’s 18th district, around a fifth of the electorate.
And Kayleigh McEnany, a Republican National Committee spokeswoman, told ABC News that the race was so tight because Democratic challenger Conor Lamb “has essentially run as a Republican”.
Taxes: He called the GOP tax bill a “giveaway” to wealthy Americans and said he supports cuts for the middle class.
The 33-year-old Lamb, a Marine veteran and former federal prosecutor, recently told Politico that the courts have yet to decide on the map issue, “so we’ll cross that bridge when we come to it”.
While Lamb is depending on union support, Saccone needs support from Trump voters like Judy Wilson. He has run a campaign ad with a picture of him shooting what appears to be an AR-15. The Republican had won his party’s nomination in an upset, after winning four terms in the state house through low-dollar, grass-roots campaigns. Lamb’s $3.3 million in fundraising dwarfs Saccone’s $700,000, one factor in some Republicans, including Trump, reportedly calling their candidate “weak”.
President Donald Trump isn’t the only candidate tweeting for his preferred candidate in a western Pennsylvania special congressional election.
“This guy should win easily”, Trump told the crowd at the rally. Considering that most people either worship God or don’t believe in him as opposed to expressing hatred, it seems most likely that some of those voters disagreed with Saccone’s religious beliefs about God.
“Saccone backs a lot of President Trump’s plans for the country”, said Gelb, a 48-year-old fire technician who lives in Mt. Lebanon.
Lamb is trying to disguise himself as a moderate, but he is far left, according to Saccone. Saccone has returned the favor by wholeheartedly praising the president, from his record on the economy to his smash-mouth approach to politics. “Rick’s going to support everything he’s doing”, engineer Carol Heinecke said.
