Pep Guardiola to clarify Bayern Munich future “next week”
Bayern are deeply upset with Guardiola’s decision to leave and are already lining up former Chelsea and Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti as his replacement, with the Italian now out of work after leaving Madrid in the summer.
There has been widespread speculation in German and Spanish media that Guardiola is set to announce his departure from Bayern at the end of the season.
“Tonight I have no answer”, he said after Bayern’s DFP Pokal victory over Darmstadt. “Next week there will be clarity”.
Manchester City have been strongly linked with a deal to recruit two-time Champions League winning coach Guardiola, while Manchester United and Chelsea are also believed to be keen to hire the 44-year-old tactician.
But Manchester United’s global appeal could lure Guardiola to Old Trafford, according to Bayern Munich’s honorary president Franz Beckenbauer.

“I am proud of my team”, Guardiola added.
Manchester United have supposedly joined the chase for the coach.
With Wenger aged 66 and boasting only two FA Cups in the last decade, the possibility is not completely dismissed by the bookies, although that may well change if the Gunners land their first Premier League title in 14 years.
Marti Perarnau, a journalist who shadowed Guardiola through his first season in Munich, has insisted England will be Pep’s next stop.
And that being the case, rivals United would be double losers with Bayern ready to hand Carlo Ancelotti the task of replacing Guardiola as manager at the Allianz Arena.
Hizfeld knows all about the pressures of managing Germany’s biggest club, having lead them to five league titles across two spells from 1998-2004 and 2007-2008 before proceeding to coach Switzerland.
“He knows the philosophy of the club and I know he hasn’t got much experience but he knows the club inside out and he would get people around who know a bit more”.
