Pep Guardiola To Leave Bayern Munich
Bayern Munich have officially revealed that their replacement for current coach Pep Guardiola will be Carlo Ancelotti.
Guardiola’s departure was widely expected with several top Premier League clubs reportedly interested in the 44-year-old former Barcelona coach.
Ancelotti was lured to Real Madrid in June 2013 to take over from Jose Mourinho and delivered the club’s 10th European crown in his first season in charge as well as a King’s Cup triumph.
Amid speculation on the future of coach Pep Guardiola, Bayern Munich extended the contracts of four players, including Germany forward Thomas Mueller and veteran Xabi Alonso.
There won’t be an eighth try as the German club announced Sunday that the Italian will replace current Bayern coach Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.
Of Ancelotti, who has twice won the Champions League with AC Milan and once with Real Madrid, Hitzfeld said: “He doesn’t stick to his system. I am sure he will be very important for the club”.
“Carlo is a calm, level-headed expert who knows how to work with stars and plays a brand of football rich in variety”.
“Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and I have always said that we’ll sit together after the last match (in Hannover), and talk about it and I say this again today”, Guardiola said.
The Champions League has alluded them so far, with Bayern being eliminated in the semifinals by Spanish opposition in both years. United boss Louis van Gaal is also under pressure following his side’s recent slump in form, which has seen them exit the Champions League at the group stages and lose to Norwich on Saturday.
Pellegrini, speaking candidly about the prospect of being replaced by Guardiola, says any coach in the world would find the Premier League hard to turn down and claims he would enjoy seeing City thrive under the former Spain midfielder in future years. He won’t go to Manchester City and then to United; he’s not going to go to Chelsea and then United.
“Of course we would also like to win the Champions League and I would love for Pep and us to do that before he leaves – just like Jupp Heynckes who left after winning the treble”.
“That’s what Pep Guardiola likes to do”, Ferdinand said.
“Some day he’ll come here”. The only thing I am anxious about is this year, trying to win the most amount of trophies I can.
