Pep to leave Bayern
“Next week there will be clarity”, Guardiola told German broadcaster ARD.
According to the Madrid-based paper, Guardiola believes both he and the club would benefit from a change of scenery due to his intense work ethic that can wear players down.
Bayern, who have been knocked out of the Champions League in the semi-finals for the last two seasons under their Spanish manager, will face Juventus in the last 16 of this year’s competition.
Bayern Munich’s coach Pep Guardiola is being tight-lipped on whether he stays or leaves the team at the end of the season.
Various sources claim Guardiola has already signed a deal to join Manchester City, at the start of 2015, to take charge of the Citizens for the 2016/17 season.
He is set to announce his decision in the coming days as the rumors of a £15 million-a-year salary with Manchester City is making headlines. He respects all the decisions I make and that is what I want from him.
Chelsea, with Jose Mourinho’s future in doubt, has been batted around as a possible destination, as has Manchester United, where Louis van Gaal has led an underwhelming campaign this season. He must have spoken to someone otherwise why would he leave a club like Bayern Munich, one of the biggest clubs in the world?
Bayern officials now appeared to be resigned to losing Guardiola and German sources suggest they have already sounded out three-time Champions League winning coach Ancelotti to replace him.
Guardiola joined Bayern in the summer of 2013 after spending four year in Barcelona and one year out with a sabbatical. Only after the game will they hold talks with Guardiola.
Such are the expectations that would fall on Guardiola’s shoulders should he arrive in Manchester. However, he has yet to emulate his predecessor at the Allianz Arena, Jupp Heynckes, in experiencing Champions League success.
The result was two goals in the final half an hour. The coaches come in and at some point they leave.
