Pepsi have launched Pepsi ideal – the famous soda Marty McFly orders in the second instalment of the Back to the Future films. There will be 6,500 bottles will be sold, with 1,500 bottles being handed out to McFly impersonators at Comic Con. “We’ve been dancing in and around pop culture for a while”, Lou Arbetter, PepsiCo’s senior director of marketing, told USA Today.
At the moment, it looks like it’ll be US-only, which is rubbish.
This is just the latest in a line of stunts, including the release of hoverboards and Power Laces, created to promote Back to the Future Day. The venue, New York City’s Javits Center, will have a Pepsi flawless world, including a Café 80’s inspired booth featuring a DeLorean and Wild Gunman arcade game. Fans of the trilogy will surely remember the sleek style of the futuristic Pepsi bottle, and will now be able to enjoy the cool beverage in the same exact glass.
Although the film won’t actually be coming to theaters this month, the Jaws 19 trailer is the latest in a series of viral Back to the Future, Part II videos.
Not all Back to the Future lovers will have to wait till October. 21 to get their hands on Pepsi ideal, though.
