Pet owners invited to Blessing of the Animals service
On or near that day, people bring their dogs and cats, hamsters, birds, fish, hamsters or any other furry, feathered or finned member of the animal kingdom, for a special blessing. Madison and Carolyn Fisher had their dogs blessed. Kathleen Mangin, music and religion teacher, said, “We are honoring his feast day by honoring our pets and asking the grace of God to come down on all of us and all of our pets”.
The Blessing of the Animals will be held at St. Thomas Becket Church, 435 North Brooksvale Rd., this Saturday, October 3. St. Francis is considered the patron saint of animals.
This year’s service takes place Sunday, October 4 at 8:45 a.m.
