Pete Carroll: Kam Chancellor looks ready to play some football
Carroll also said after Friday’s practice that safety Kam Chancellor is on track to play against the Bears, though he said a final determination will not be made until Saturday.
“He’s looked like he’s in just rare form”, Carroll said of how Chancellor has performed in practice on Wednesday and Thursday.
Carroll said the team would not disclose any financial information.
Chancellor, one of the league’s top safeties and a leader of the “Legion of Boom” secondary, was scheduled to make $4.55 million in base salary this season before missing two game checks.
Sunday’s home opener against the Bears kicks off at 1:25pm and you can hear it on KPUG 1170AM. “He’s been working out really hard, he’s really lean and ready to go”.
Upon his return Wednesday, Chancellor said he was ready.
Asked if Chancellor is willing to carry his contract holdout through the season, Robinson said: “From what I know of the situation, yeah, he’s dug in. So there’s always something that you miss, but that’s well behind us and away we go”. But practice is important, and there is something to that. Some guys can handle it a little better than others (not having practiced much) and I think Kam is one of those guys.
According to NFL.com, Carroll announced to reporters on Friday that Lynch is dealing with a bruised calf and is a “game-time” decision for the Bears game. And as people continue to speculate about offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell’s playcalling, Graham’s usage will continue to be a point of contention, but the three-time Pro Bowler says that he’s not complaining about whether or not he gets the ball. “We’ve been able to condition him some but we just wanted to make sure and take care of him during the week”. “He’ll run tomorrow and we’ll see if he’s OK. But it will go all the way to gameday”.
Backup CB Tharold Simon remains out with a dislocated toe, and backup safety Steven Terrell has a hip flexor strain from Green Bay and will sit out as well. In the process, Chicago lost starting quarterback Jay Cutler for at least a few games due to a hamstring injury. “Our job is just as his brothers to welcome him back in and get him going”.
