Pete Carroll takes veiled shot at Patriots fans after Seahawks’ thrilling win
It likely won’t in a fairly diluted National Football League, and the fact the Patriots were within one yard of tying the game late in regulation shouldn’t be overlooked. If the Seahawks line can have its way with the Patriots, how will New England slow down the likes of Dallas, Pittsburgh and Oakland? He ran stride-for-stride with Gronkowski even after being turned around mid-route by an inside move then dived to break up the pass as it arrived. I know I told you I would, and then after I told you I would, I changed my mind. I wasn’t trying to initiate contact. When things went bad, it was like the world was against him. There were 10 plays of 15 or more yards, including the 20-yard pass interference on Justin Coleman.
“I was on Marcus Lucas”.
“We were trying to get as close as we could”. “Probably one of the hardest I’ve gotten in my career”. But he didn’t push me. Carroll got fired and Belichick quit but they obviously have both taken a little bit of Jets history with them that they can’t shake.
Chancellor had returned Sunday after being sidelined for a month with an injured groin. “We’ve put a good foundation in place”, said special teams captain Matthew Slater.
But Seahawks kicker Steven Hauschka, who earlier had an extra point blocked and missed a chip shot overtime field goal in that tie game in Arizona on October 23, didn’t come onto the field.
Some of the best Seahawks teams under coach Pete Carroll have been the ones that gradually improved throughout the season. “I’ve gotta admit, I haven’t had more fun just enjoying a win, really”, Carroll said.
Any team with Tom Brady under center and Rob Gronkowski and Martellus Bennett playing the role of his favorite targets is going to be successful.
Running back Christine Michael played but did not start – after being questionable to play with a hamstring injury the Seahawks listed for the first time on Friday. “But I’m not here to make excuses and say that was a (penalty)”.
“We talked about it the last two weeks, how this game was going to go all the way down to the last play. We are entitled to our ground, and I think Kam played it as good as you can play it”. “It won’t get much tougher than that”.
While Brady’s arm is going to win games, Blount helps (see Prosise last night). “Sometimes you get the call, sometimes you don’t”. Our execution on those plays could have been a lot better, and think that was the difference. It’s very similar to when we played them the last time (in the Super Bowl). “It was the most aggressive that we’ve been, the most confident coming off the ball”. We had our chances. The two teams don’t play enough.
The Patriots are now 12-5 under head coach Bill Belichick after a bye week. They have one of the best quarterbacks that’s ever played, the best coach that’s ever coached.
Despite the shortcomings, defensive captain Devin McCourty said he’s confident they will be able to figure things out. “That’s what we need to do”. The Seahawks have been dominant in their stadium since Carroll’s arrival in 2010, and should be just as acclimated to a winning home environment as Patriots fans by now.
Speaking with the “Brock and Salk” show on 710 ESPN Seattle, Carroll ripped Patriots fans for their lackluster showing Sunday night. It’s one of the great challenges, a team and a defense gets, our guys came through and hung in there fought for every inch and walked away with this one.
