Petition to rename park after South Carolina boy saved sister
While the Wylie family awaits justice for La’Darious, the Chester community wants to honor him by renaming his favorite park (right down the street from the bus stop where he was killed) in his honor. La’Darious immediately pushed his sister out of harm’s way, but he was unable to get out of dodge quickly enough to save himself.
La’Darious’ cousin, Kimberly Robinson, told HuffPost in a phone interview that witnesses at the scene saw the vehicle careening toward the children and the split second decision of bravery by La’Darious.
La’Darious died the next day at a local hospital. She was charged with hit and run with severe injury. La’Darious was struck on the corner of his family’s South Carolina home. She was released on Friday after posting a $25,000 bond. He saved lives after death, too, when his organs were donated to children waiting for transplants.
“He was loved by all that knew him”, the family wrote on the GoFundMe page set up to help with funeral costs.
So family, friends, and neighbors would like to see it be given new life in LaDarious’ name.
“Coping with it day by day, so we can’t really say what’s going to lie ahead”, Mobley told WBTV. “We just dealing with it on a daily basis because when it’s a tragedy like this – we just have to deal with it day by day”.
