PewDiePie Sets Record as First YouTube Channel to Hit 10 Billion Views
The success of Felix “PewDiePie” Kjellberg is staggering. This time, his gaming-oriented channel has reached over 10 billion views total.
With figures like that, it should come as no surprise to hear that PewDiePie has today made history as the first YouTuber ever to have passed 10 billion video views.
Tube Filter reports that PewDiePie created his YouTube channel on April 29, 2010. He says “I’m so central to YouTube now, and that puts me in the spotlight and raises a lot of questions like ‘Why is he so big?'”. As it stands, his channel has close to 40 million subscribers and with him not appearing to be slowing down, we can only expect his subscriber count and channel view count to keep rising.
Finally, he shared a some food for thought: “I understand that haters are going to hate, but I really think that money doesn’t make you happy”. He also added I’m just as happy now as I was five years ago. Previous year 2014, he successfully made $630,000 for the charity called Save the Children charity. I’m very happy that I don’t have to worry about paying rent.
PewDiePie, for those who don’t know, is one of the world’s most popular YouTubers and his unique style, which I like to describe as a grown man with his genitals stuck in a blender, shows no sign of losing popularity or steam. He absolutely dwarves the second most watched user, Chilian comedian HolaSoyGerman who has 2 billion views.
