PewDiePie Trolls Everyone: Not Going to Delete YouTube Channel
OMG! PewDiePie (real name Felix Kjellberg), has always been at the top of the YouTube food chain.
Well, on Friday at 5 p.m. GMT, the channel… was left perfectly in tact. He’s also upset that his videos are seeing supremely low view counts, at least when compared to previous success. This year, Forbes named the Swede the highest paid YouTuber, with reported earnings of $15 million this year.
In his 10-minute YouTube rant (above), Kjellberg comes out with guns blazing, accusing YouTube’s new policy of causing the views of his and other YouTubers’ videos to see drastic reductions. PewDiePie’s recordings are basically videos of himself playing while giving commentaries, which are then viewed by his 50 million subscribers.
Pewdiepie suggests that the changes directly affect how viewers are guided to specific channels via the service’s “suggested” and “recommended” videos feature, which pulls in a huge portion of views for any given content creator.
PewDiePie, whose real name is Felix Kjellberg, released a video lamenting some of the issues he has had with YouTube recently, saying he would delete his YouTube channel once he reaches 50 million subscribers. By and large, today’s youth aspire to YouTube stardom. At the end of it all, PewDiePie says that he doesn’t like the fact that YouTube makes these changes without clearly expressing them to content creators.
Operating a successful YouTube channel is no easy feat. He justified that YouTube is creating problems for the channels by making new type of hindrances for the uploaders. Kjellberg wanted to get to 50 million subscribers in an expedient fashion, and figured that his similarly-minded fan base would get him there. “That was it, that was the joke”, Kjellberg said.
In case you are unaware of it, PewDiePie is YouTube’s most popular channel. If this continues it’s going to kill a lot of channels.
