Peyton Manning, DeMarcus Ware not traveling to Chicago

30 teams in the National Football League don’t know what Brock Osweiler is capable of at quarterback with the Denver Broncos.

Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler faces off against his former team for the first time in his career Sunday afternoon at Soldier Field when the suddenly resurgent Bears face off against the sputtering Denver Broncos.

Honestly, I can’t say I’ve felt this excited about a Chiefs defensive performance since Derrick Thomas and Company were roaming the range at Arrowhead. But the Bears offense will go up against a Broncos defense that is stifling, even if DeMarcus Ware doesn’t play.

This is a tough game to call with it being Osweiler’s first start, but what we should expect is to see a few new wrinkles on offense. And he can’t play worse than Manning did against Kansas City. “Im focusing on the things that got me to this point and just focusing on going into Chicago and doing whatever it takes to get that win.”. Just last season alone Cutler had seven games in which he threw two or more interceptions, something he has not yet done once nine weeks into this season. As unfathomable as it seems for (a) Osweiler to become a key figure in a Super Bowl run and (b) Manning to potentially end his season – and his career? – as a backup, it’s something we and Kubiak must be prepared to deal with and wrap our brains around.

Gase looked at the Broncos interview as a way to get better at them.

In their first segment, Goodman and Fogg discussed the success (or lack thereof) in regard to the West Coast offense the Broncos run under the guidance of Head Coach Gary Kubiak. You don’t want to see a guy that, when he gets his opportunity, he gets tight.

Perhaps if college had been easier for Osweiler, he might not have been able to handle sitting behind Manning as well as he has. 66 TDs per game and 2.33 INTs per game over the past six games, then the Broncos will be in great shape. There is obviously a lot of history between the two teams, but at the end of the day, none of that matters- they each have post-season aspirations, and each have their own challenges that they are facing in that journey. I don’t care if Osweiler throws for 250 yards, so long as he doesn’t commit more than one turnover.

Though the Broncos could have a real decision to make at the quarterback position if Osweiler performs well, the team needs to take things one game at a time with him. Osweilers superior mobility, athleticism, arm strength and accuracy might also give the Broncos (7-2) the boost theyve been searching for on offense all season. Two weeks ago, he scored on an 83 yard punt return against the Colts.
