Peyton Manning likely to miss two more games with foot injury

The Cincinnati Bengals at Cleveland Browns game on Sunday, Dec. 6 at 1 p.m. ET moves from CBS to FOX, and the Panthers-Saints game on FOX moves from 1 p.m. ET to 4:25 p.m. ET to be part of the national doubleheader window.

Is this an indication of the end of the Manning Era in Denver and the NFL?

What about post Peyton Manning life in Denver? The Broncos have maintained that Manning still is their top quarterback and simply is focusing on his recovery from his injuries. Assuming he can healed sufficiently from the foot injury, the Broncos would have a fresh QB determined to erase the memories of his debacle against the Chiefs. Remember, this is the same guy who played through two torn quads as well. He will attempt some brief workouts with the team this time around. The offense he ran with Manning at quarterback was limited and skewed towards Manning’s limitations and preferences. All of a sudden, he’s running [head coach] Gary Kubiak’s and, quite frankly, he has just not been effective. I never got the opportunity to interview you as your entire career was spent west of the MS, while my career has been spent mainly in the southeast.

“We went through a month there where we were a three-wide football team, a four-wide football team because we had Virgil and O.D. – and O.D. was banged up”, coach Gary Kubiak said.

“I can just tell you for there to be any rumors or anything he said that his mindset is anywhere other than getting healthy and helping this football team, I can tell you is totally false”, Kubiak said.

Will the Denver Broncos go with Peyton Manning or Brock Osweiler at quarterback?

Kubiak subsequently gave Osweiler his first career start in Sunday’s game against the Bears. It’s about what they try and do as an offense and what the quarterback’s role is in that offense.

That can cause a problem with Manning’s ego, but that can be managed with the help of Elway, who can tell him the goal is winning, not stats. I would not disrupt it. Listen, this kid and this offensive line, it may be a blessing, because they have not protected him very well. So having the mobility that he (Osweiler) brings to the table may be a better fit.

Manning started to fall apart last season, and he’s only gotten worse this year. The thing that he’s going to be able to do is see a lot of good things, but he’s also going to look at some things and say, ‘I could have been better in this situation.’ I think he’s going to take a lot from that. Brock Osweiler completed 20 of 27 passes for 250 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Broncos.

Ponder said he got the call to come work out for Broncos while he was shopping for groceries for Thanksgiving.

Manning was forced to miss two starts already this year after tearing his plantar fascia.
