Peyton Manning strongly denies report he used HGH in 2011
The report comes in advance of a documentary titled “The Dark Side”, which will air on Al-Jazeera America Sunday night.
An incendiary Al Jazeera documentary containing allegations of a doping ring among multiple professional athletes, including Phillies slugger Ryan Howard and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning, was released online Sunday afternoon after an initial report drew strong denials from those implicated in the undercover investigation.
“It never happened. Never. Whoever said this is making stuff up”.
An Al Jazeera documentary claimed human growth hormone (HGH) was mailed to Manning’s wife after he underwent neck surgery in 2011.
Peyton’s wife Ashley Manning’s name was also dragged into the controversy, as she apparently was prescribed the drug for his use.
Sly told Mortensen that he isn’t a pharmacist and wasn’t at the Guyer Institute in 2011, as Al Jazeera claimed.
The report was previewed by the Huffington Post, which published a story Saturday night detailing Al-Jazeera’s work. Clay Matthews was linked to Toradol, which is not banned in the US, but still needs to be prescribed by a doctor (it was alleged in the report that Matthews simply texted a pharmaceutical source to acquire the drug).
Harrison, Zimmerman and Howard have all denied the allegations. However, Sly told ESPN that he isn’t a pharmacist and he wasn’t at the Guyer Institute in 2011.
“I think I rotated between being angry, furious”, Manning said, talking about his response to the accusations.
Manning, the Denver Broncos (his current National Football League team) and Ari Fleischer, a former White House press secretary retained by Manning, have all denied that the story is true.
“When I was there, I had never seen the Mannings ever”.
“All the time we would be sending Ashley Manning drugs”, Sly says in a video in which he was being secretly recorded. No one has yet tested positive for HGH, an offence that carries a four-game ban within the NFL.
Manning, who joined the Broncos in 2012, has been sidelined since November 15 by a left foot injury. “In fact, I can say with absolutely certainty they are not”, Guyer said. My wife has never provided any medication for me to take. “These are false claims made to Al Jazeera, and we don’t believe the report”, the statement said.
