Peyton Manning too sore to practice Friday
Kubiak said Thursday that he liked what he saw from Manning after practices on Wednesday and Thursday.
Manning didn’t practice on Friday because his injured foot was sore and Kubiak said that the decision was made to “shut it down for the weekend”.
“He’ll make the trip, be a part of everything we’re doing, be on the sidelines, I assume, sidelines or press box, but probably the sidelines, ” Kubiak said. “We’ll pick it back up on Monday”.
Kubiak had already ruled out the league’s only five-time MVP for Sunday’s game at Pittsburgh (8-5), when Brock Osweiler will make his fifth consecutive start for Denver (10-3).
The positive news from the injury report is inside linebacker Danny Trevathan has been cleared from his concussion/oral procedure and will play against the Steelers, as will strong safety David Bruton Jr., who missed last week’s game against Oakland with a left knee sprain. This didn’t appear to be a planned day off for Manning, so it appears his foot is still giving him some problems.
Manning’s father, Archie, told WDSU in New Orleans the foot injury has bothered Peyton Manning for “five or six months”.
“I just heard about that, ” Kubiak said Friday of Archie Manning’s comments. “So, it’s something we’ve been dealing with, dealing with the right way and trying to get him back to where he feels really good and the progress has been very good”. The Broncos are 10-3 and lead the AFC West. Kansas City is second hottest team in football behind undefeated Carolina, as the Chiefs have won seven straight. And on Manning’s aspect is the maybe optimistic perception that lots of his struggles this yr could possibly be attributed to his accidents, particularly his lack of ability to push off his foot and get any zip on his throws.
