PGA Betting Odds 7/18/16 – RBC Canadian Open
Would he to win this week, the Carolinian bomber would have won both the US and Canadian Opens.
Let’s take a look at the past year for the 28-year-old Aussie as he makes his return to the place where it all began. “Innovative technology is having a positive impact on fan engagement at major sporting events and we know ZTE will deliver an exciting spectator experience at this year’s RBC Canadian Open”. But due to the number of players tied at the bottom of the field, there was a second cut following the third round. Except that Hamilton proved himself up to the task past year when he finished tied with 2012 Canadian Open champ Scott Piercy and J.B. Holmes, both ranked among the top 30 in the world. Conners edged Hemmerich on the second playoff hole to claim the final spot into the RBC Canadian Open.
David Hearn of Brantford, Ont., will lead the Canadian contingent that also includes Graham DeLaet of Weyburn, Sask., Abbotsford, B.C., natives Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor, and Canadian Golf Hall of Fame member Mike Weir of Bright’s Grove, Ont., who will be making his 25th start in Canada’s National Men’s Open Championship. That was until Day had something to say.
The 2016 PGA TOUR season is slowly dwindling down, and the golf world is now on a high after a masterful showing by the duo of Open Champion Henrik Stenson and runner-up Phil Mickelson this past week at Royal Troon Golf Course.
Jason Day – Last year’s champion will be keen to repeat the success. “A lot of emotion has come out because I’ve been so close so many times and fallen short”. “A couple of swings cost me, but I’m on the cusp of playing some great golf”. Day bumped up to No. 3 in the world while Spieth became the new No. 1 after passing McIlroy.
Day was disappointing last week given the expectations on him heading into the event at Royal Troon but there is every reason to expect him to bounce back this week despite the fact that he has the world number two, Dustin Johnson, in the field. Unfortunately for Day, Spieth captured the season-ending Tour Championship to win the FedEx Cup and the $10 million bonus. Still, Day finished the 2015 season with five victories under his belt and $9.4 million in winnings in his wallet.
I’ll be back with the In-Play Blog on Friday. The atmosphere of being a Canadian and playing at the RBC Canadian Open is really cool. He followed a tied 8th at the U.S. Open with a tie for third at the Bridgestone. There will also be exciting games and giveaways throughout the championship, with prizes including free rounds of golf, stays at a resort, swag bags and chances to win the Axon 7 smartphone.
The same word keeps coming up as Blair Hamilton talks about his preparations for the RBC Canadian Open – fun.
