PGA golfer Jason Bohn suffers mild heart attack at Honda
Rickie Fowler kept bogeys off his card for the second straight round Friday for a four-under-par 66 and the early lead in the Honda Classic at Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
Jason Bohn was taken to a hospital after suffering a mild heart attack following a second-round 72 at the Honda Classic on Friday.
Walker finished his round of 66 with a 25-foot birdie on the 17th and a 40-foot eagle putt on No. 18.
First-round co-leader Sergio Garcia, playing alongside Fowler, signed for a 69 for 134, and Australian Adam Scott powered up the leaderboard with a bogey-free 65 that included an eagle and three birdies and put him in fourth on 135.
World No. 9 Patrick Reed (74-72, 6-over) missed the cut, as did Johnson, Keegan Bradley and 2014 Honda victor Russell Henley.
The first two days of the Honda Classic haven’t been too shabby, either. While he recovered with birdies at the 15th and 18th, his three-over par homeward nine was disappointing as he toiled with the putter and every mistake meant a dropped shot, although he at least made the cut. “Obviously I played really well there and played well down the stretch, just didn’t go my way”. He finished his round with two-putt pars and successful birdie putts of 8 feet at the sixth and 22 feet at the ninth. It mattered not to Rickie Fowler, who is so hot it seems no playing condition can affect him.
Having been just two shots off the lead at the end of the first round Shane Lowry also endured a frustrating second day in Florida – beginning his round with two bogeys on the 10th and 11th holes before a double bogey on the 14th.
“I was more anxious about the alligator that was on the other side of the island than getting out of the water”, Garcia said. The good news? The ball was only half-submerged, and Garcia said it was easy to get it going forward onto the fairway.
And in a sport known for eagles and birdies, alligators and Egyptian geese got just as much attention during the opening round. He was told to take an on-site ambulance to Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center for further tests.
YANG HALFWAY HOME: Defending champion Amy Yang carded a 3-under 69 to lead by one halfway through the LPGA Thailand on Friday in Chonburi, Thailand. For his two rounds, McIlroy had a triple, two doubles and six bogeys – sloppy golf coming off a poor final round at Riviera last week, when he was in contention.
McIlroy’s 2012 victory at PGA National propelled him to number one in the world for the first time.
“To keep it around par-it was a good first day”.
Overnight leader Peter Uihlein of the United States shot a four-under 68 and was tied for the second-round lead with Brett Rumford at the Perth International, with former British Open champion Louis Oosthuizen a stroke behind on Friday. It makes the course look harder when keeping score by par, though the course is tough enough as it is.
