Jason Bohn fired a nine-under 61 to force his way into a share of the lead after the third round of the U.S. PGA Tour’s Greenbrier Classic, while Tiger Woods just about hung in behind a crowded leaderboard.
Molder reached 11 under with a birdie at No. 9 before stringing together nine straight pars.
Bohn, Sean O’Hair, Sung Joon Park and Bryce Molder were at 11-under 199 on the Old White TPC course in West Virginia.
Tiger Woods was seven shots off the lead as he registered a 71 while England’s Greg Owen is eight under.
Four others are just one stroke behind at a tournament where no 54-hole leader has ever won.
Woods, a 14-time major victor, hit a double-bogey and three bogey in his round of one-over par. Park are tied for the lead heading into the final round of the Greenbrier Classic.
Bohn had birdied the final hole in the second round to make the cut on the number at 2 under, then kept the momentum going on Saturday with birdies on four of the last five holes.
“I gave myself plenty of looks early to get something going and get some kind of run”, he said.
Justin Thomas, David Hearn, Danny Lee and Chad Collins are one shot back with a thrilling finish in prospect on Sunday.
Green Bay Packers tight end Andrew Quarless has been arrested for allegedly firing two shots into the air during an argument outside a Miami Beach parking garage.
O’Hair had a bogey-free back nine, birdieing four holes as he carded a third-round 66, a score matched by Park, who was flawless throughout the penultimate day.
Woods was within four shots of the lead at the start of Saturdays round and kept pace with two front-nine birdies. He finished off the front side at the par-4 ninth by hitting a nice approach shot 13 feet from the cup but was unable to convert and made the turn in 1-under 33. After driving it into the water hazard on the right the first two rounds, he pulled his tee shot way left and hit a tree, the ball dropping into the rough.
“I didn’t really have a lot of break to any of my putts”.
Vegas had five birdies with no bogeys for a nine-under-par halfway total of 131.
“I had the blocks with my putter today and just couldn’t, for some reason just couldn’t feel like I could let it go”.
Maximilian Kieffer of Germany, also chasing his first European Tour title, was two back after shooting a bogey-free 65 and moving up seven places.
