Pharrell to perform at MTV VMAs, Kanye to get special honour
MTV is slowly unveiling its lineup for the 2015 Video Music Awards, ramping up our collective enthusiasm for the main event on August 30. While The Weeknd is confirmed to debut the first-ever televised performance of the single “Can’t Feel My Face”, additional performers and presenters will be announced at a later date.
MTV said the rapper was being honoured for his career-spanning groundbreaking videos, legendary VMA performances, and continued impact on music, art, fashion, and culture. The channel will announce the names of two other performers by Thursday.
Kayne West jumps onstage as Taylor Swift accepts her award for the “Best Female Video” award during the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards. West’s acceptance speech is bound to be full of a whole bunch of self-appreciation and unbelievably arrogant statements, which will be hard to watch all in itself. At Sunday’s award ceremony, the “Yeezus” rapper shall be honored with the award for his contributions to the artwork of the music video.
“Kanye West would be the first person to tell you he belongs on this list”, Musk wrote, and called him a “pop juggernaut”.
This year Taylor Swift leads the pack of nominees with a whopping nine nominations racked up by her hit videos “Bad Blood” and “Blank Space” videos.
Alright, are you ready to find out who is performing at the 2015 VMAs?
Back in 2013, Justin Timberlake reunited with his *N SYNC bandmates for a 15-minute set while Beyonce sang several tracks from her self-titled fifth studio album previous year. Although Twenty One Pilots has never performed at the VMAs, they did perform at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards.
