Philadelphia Community College Lockdown
The gunman got into a scuffle near campus and threatened someone with a gun before walking into a campus building.
Ramsey said the suspect’s name would not be released until he was charged.
Police made a sweep of all campus buildings as they continued to search for a gun while the entire campus remained under lockdown.
A warning message on the college’s website states: “Police activity in campus”. However, Ramsey said there was no evidence to suggest that Tuesday’s incident was related.
A suspect in the case was later apprehended, Tanya Little of the Philadelphia Police Department said shortly before noon.
Ramsey said prosecutors would decide later what charges would be filed, but they could include firearms violations, assault and perhaps terroristic threats.
In addition, another witness told police she had watched the entire encounter between the teens, and had not seen a gun at all.
Students walk past police after being locked down at the Community… Philadelphia police then tweeted that there was no active shooter and described the incident as a “personal dispute”. Julia R. Masterman School nearby is also on lockdown today, officials tell news.
The reports come just days after nine people were killed in a mass shooting at Umpqua Community College in Oregon.
