Philbin denies report that Suh freelanced
With Sunday’s 23-20 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, there are rumblings of discord in the Miami locker room.
According to the Miami Herald, Suh went off script and strayed from Dolphins defensive coordinator Kevin Coye’s game plan.
While a report in the Miami Herald said Suh was complicating things for teammates by freelancing.
“I didn’t see anything of the sort”, he said, “so I’m not sure where that came from”.
Through two games, Suh has three tackles, so if Philbin is right and the former Detroit Lion has been a team player, maybe he should cut him loose. “There will be more plays to be made”.
Per Cole, Suh is and has been struggling with the complexities of the Dolphins defense, leading him to stray from the called play. He was actually – I thought – closer to plays this week than last week. To say he’s going to have “X” amount of tackles or “X” amount of sacks every game, you have to watch the tape. Dolphins players are beginning to “lose confidence” in Coyle and his schemes, primarily because the unit has failed to live up to the expectations they placed on themselves heading into the 2015 National Football League season. Suh, regarded among the best run-stuffers and inside pass rushers in the National Football League , lived up to his lofty billing during training camp and preseason.
Quarterback Ryan Tannehill (ankle), defensive end Cam Wake (hamstring), left tackle Branden Albert (hamstring), running back Lamar Miller (ankle) and tight end Jordan Cameron (groin) were all injured on Sunday. Are they double-teaming every time?
Philbin said he showed the entire team the tape on Monday under the heading “poise”.
“I couldn’t tell you”. Many times, that causes people to feel as though the player has improvised.
