Philips Announces New Hue Wireless Dimming Kit
The Hue dimmer looks great, and can easily be connected to Philips’ range of Hue products (such as the regular Hue and the Hue Lux) using the Philips Hue bridge, as MacRumors explains. The Philips Hue wireless dimming kit is a no installation, straight out of the box solution for perfectly dimmable lights in your home without having to move from the sofa.
Each dimming kit comes with one white Hue bulb along with a dimming switch, which is portable and battery operated. The best part is that you won’t need an electrician to install it.
The Philips Hue kit will be available starting this September in a $40 (€34) kit which includes a Philips white bulb, the dimmer, which can be snapped on a wall and handled like a traditional light switch, and magnets to hold the remote and easily remove it when having it close is more convenient. The multi-use contraption also serves as a normal wall switch, or a remote control that can be placed anywhere in the house. Philips also promises “no flickering or buzzing” for the switch, MacRumors adds (this being a common problem with “old fashioned” dimmer switches). The dimming kit requires no installation and it integrates seamlessly with existing Hue products, letting customers change the brightness of up to 10 Philips Hue white bulbs at the same time. “With the kit, anyone is able to begin enjoying the simplicity of modern dimming”, says Leonardo Avenzzano, the marketing chief for Hue. The company is a leader in cardiac care, acute care and home healthcare, energy efficient lighting solutions and new lighting applications, as well as male shaving and grooming and oral healthcare.
