‘Philly Jesus’ arrested at Apple store for trespassing
A man dressed as Jesus was arrested in Philadelphia because his cross was blocking the aisle in an Apple store.
6ABC reports that police received a complaint from the store around 6:15 p.m., with employees saying that ‘Philly Jesus, ‘ aka Michael Grant, wouldn’t take up his cross and leave when asked. He dresses like Jesus, carries a cross and preaches on sidewalks. They say Grant refused to leave and created a disturbance.
He was handcuffed and arrested, and shouted “I know my rights, freedom of religion”, according to witnesses.
Grant is charged with defiant trespass and disorderly conduct, 6ABC reports.
Grant tweeted Tuesday that he was “free at last”. The 29-year-old also performs fountain baptisms and documents his encounters around the city on Instagram.
