Phoenix Suns Lose A Game To The Pelicans They Should Have Won

The New Orleans Pelicans are trying to recover from a disastrous start and look to notch their third consecutive victory when they visit the Phoenix Suns on Wednesday. It was a hard fall.

“There were a lot of little things we did wrong”, Suns coach Jeff Hornacek said, citing his team’s 11-of-33 shooting in the paint.

Evans is a bowling ball of a slasher who despite not being explosive or as quick as other players still manages to get to the basket. Smith drilled a three-pointer at the buzzer to make the Suns’ lead just 60-58 at halftime, and the former Suns backup point guard finished with 20 points and 11 assists.

“He pushes the ball for us, but he pushes it consistently when he’s in there”, Gentry said. The Pelicans defeated the Suns 120-114. Now it’s a of the Pelicans getting the job done on the road. It’s a long game and we didn’t put our foot on the gas.

Davis capped a 32-point, 19-rebound performance with a tiebreaking 3-pointer in the final minute, and the Pelicans beat the Suns 122-116 on Sunday night.

But for those who were about to give the Pelicans a second-line jazz funeral befitting of a team that had won 1 game in a month’s worth of game action, that send-off was apparently a bit premature.

After trailing by 17 in the first quarter, the Pelicans chipped away, taking the lead in the 4th quarter. A positive net rating of 7.8 is nothing to scoff at when considering New Orleans played the Suns twice and the San Antonio Spurs once.

Although the Pelicans now have the fourth worst record in the National Basketball Association, it needs to be restated that injuries and the strength of schedule have been enormous detractors. G Norris Cole (left ankle sprain) also did not play…. – Alvin Gentry on Ish Smith before the game.

SUNS: C Tyson Chandler was held out due to an upper respiratory infection, his first missed game of the season. Alex Len started in his place and in 16 minutes scored two points and grabbed eight rebounds. Phoenix signed free-agent G Bryce Cotton before the game, but he wasn’t active.

Anderson is also playing extremely well, averaging 28.3 points on 55.8 percent shooting over his last four contests while going 15 for 32 from 3-point range. Knight took to a microphone to wish a happy Thanksgiving to the crowd before tipoff….

Evans has not yet played this season after undergoing knee surgery at the end of the preseason.

Fifteen minutes into the game the Suns had scored 50 points, and it looked like it was going to be another long night for the Pelicans.
