Photo of paramedic bride in wedding dress goes viral
Moments after Sarah Ray and her new husband Paul said their “I dos” they got a phone call that would turn their wedding upside down. “I don’t know that what I did was special, I was just making sure my family was OK … I hate that the actual accident had to happen, but everyone is going to be OK, so we can kind of laugh about it [the photo] now”.
Shot by Ray’s mother, the picture shows the bride responding to the scene of a auto crash just minutes after the ceremony had concluded – while still wearing her wedding dress.
“There are a lot of people that are using the word ‘hero.’ I don’t think what we did was heroic”, she said.
“We had stopped at accidents before and in regular clothes”, she added.
A picture of Ray in her wedding dress working the scene of a crash has gone viral. The collision involved her grandparents and father.
Ray’s father and grandmother suffered minor injuries, but she said they are doing okay.
According to Ray, as the festivities raged on, her 72-year-old grandmother was taken to the hospital and was upset for ruining her granddaughter’s big day.
“Professionally, Sarah is an outstanding paramedic and exemplifies what it means to work in EMS”, Edwards said.
She was walking on the side of the road with her skirts gathered in her hands in a light rain as her mother took a photograph of her with the ambulance and a firetruck behind her.
“We were still at the church”, she said. “Personally, she’s a very humble and compassionate person”.
Ray said she finds the attention a bit overwhelming.
“I’m just a husband in the background”, he said.
