FBI Director James Corney stated that they suspect, “radicalization by the killers and the potential inspiration by foreign terrorist organizations”. The post, under a different name, was taken down a short time later, Williams said of the post uncovered by the FBI in the course of its ongoing investigation.

Asked about a reported Facebook post by Malik on the day of the attack pledging loyalty to Islamic State, Bowdich said, “I know it was in a general timeline where that post was made, and yes, there was a pledge of allegiance”. He also declined to rule out that future possibility. He cautioned that the investigation has not yet shown evidence the couple was part of a larger group. S. citizen Farook within 90 days of the visa issuance (reflecting a marriage in Saudi Arabia), passed the vetting process and received a green card from the U. S. State Department. U. S. State Department spokeswoman Elizabeth Trudeau said today the government stands by its vetting process and has no plans to make changes in it, .
“We are now investigating these horrific acts as an act of terrorism”, David Bowdich, assistant director of the FBI’s Los Angeles office, announced during a news conference Friday.
Mr Bowdich said he was not aware of the IS-affiliated Aamaq news service report but was not surprised IS would attempt to link itself to the attack. He said investigators are looking carefully to determine if there is an IS connection.
The hard drive from their computer is gone, and two relatively new cell phones were found smashed in a garbage can, law enforcement officials said.
Specifics details about Tashfeen Malik’s postings weren’t disclosed Friday by the law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because this person was not allowed to discuss an ongoing investigation. We do hope that the digital fingerprints that were left by these two individuals will take us towards their motivation.
Nor did anyone in the family think that Farook had had any kind of training for such an assault.
Mr Chesley and his legal partner, Mohammad Abuershaid, described Malik as “just a housewife” who closely followed Muslim traditions.
They caught the first images of Farook’s and Mailk’s home.
The FBI questioned her on Wednesday night and, according to the lawyers, refused to release her until Farook’s siblings came for questioning.
The family’s attorneys said the couple, who lived in a townhouse with their baby daughter and Farook’s mother, were quiet and kept to themselves.
No one has been arrested in connection with the massacre, but authorities say arrests are possible.
What we do know is that Malik, who was originally from Pakistan, lived in Saudi Arabia and came to the United States in July 2014 with Syed Farook on a fiancée visa. Farook was born in Chicago to Pakistani parents and raised in California.
A law enforcement official said it appeared the San Bernardino attack may have been inspired by ISIS, but none of the officials said that ISIS directed or ordered the attack. Though most are men, “women are taking an increasingly prominent role in the jihadist world”, the report said.
According to senior federal officials, Malik’s husband, Mr. Farook, was likely in contact with a small handful of alleged extremists, including one with al Shabab and another with the Nusra Front in Syria.
Federal, state and local investigators are particularly focused on the confiscated electronic devices to find on with whom the couple may have been in contact. Malik’s family claims they had no knowledge of her sympathies for the group. They also say their struggling to mourn he loss of someone they thought they knew.
