Pianist Plays John Lennon’s ‘Imagine’ Beside Site of Deadly Attack
A pianist plays a poignant rendition of John Lennon’s Imagine outside the Bataclan theatre, the day after more than 127 people were slaughtered during the Paris terror attacks.
An unnamed man covered “Imagine” on a portable piano outside Le Bataclan on Saturday morning.
Flowers, candles and several memorials have also been set up around in the district.
The concert hall was the scene of the greatest death toll of a night when co-ordinated terror attacks across France’s capital claimed the lives of 127 people. The majority of the victims, believed to be 87, were killed inside Bataclan concert hall.
As police closed in, the attackers detonated suicide vests, killing themselves and setting off explosions.
It was one of six simultaneous attacks on Paris yesterday for which the Islamic State has taken full responsibility. Elsewhere at least one man opened fire in a restaurant in the 11th district.
The likes of U2 and Foo Fighters have cancelled upcoming shows in Paris and elsewhere in Europe following the attacks.
