Pickens, Lamar counties experience damage following Alabama storms

Officials say the tornado struck the town of McMullen in Pickens County Tuesday evening and destroyed 13 homes.
An EF-1 tornado was also confirmed in Fayette County near the Ashcraft Corner/Belk communities, and another tornado confirmed in Beaverton in Lamar County.
Damage assessments show 31 homes destroyed or sustained major damage and 48 with minor damage.
Tuesday’s high temperature of 67 degrees could come at a price.

The greatest threat is from winds that will be strong enough to cause damage to trees and structures.

It comes as a powerful snowstorm buried parts of Colorado and Nebraska in more than a foot of snow into Tuesday.
