Pierce Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team for Second Time
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution, and must have participated in at least 50 percent of the team’s games.
First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot where first, second and third team All-America honorees will be announced later this month.
This is the first Academic All-District honor for Evans, who is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree.
Adams, of Ashland City, Tennessee, becomes the first Lady Govs player to receive first-team Academic All-District recognition since 2004. This year, he earned the honor despite appearing in just three games, meeting the minimum playing eligibility requirements at the time of nomination.
Including a pair of rushing TDs this season, Ramsey finished with 1,907 career rushing yards and 14 TDs, adding 428 yards and a score receiving out of the backfield. Redshirt freshmen are not eligible for the honors.
Earlier this year he was a semifinalist for the 2015 William V. Campbell Trophy, which recognizes an individual as the absolute best football scholar-athlete in the nation. His first career interception against Samford helped jumpstart the Catamounts in the dominating Homecoming victory over the Bulldogs – WCU’s first since 1969.
Evans was one of eight student-athletes selected to represent District V, which covers Illinois, Indiana, Michigan and Ohio.
Berardi has been a letterwinning defensive back for the Saxons each of his four years at AU, starting the last three. He owns a 3.86 grade point average in information sciences and technology.
Boswell is the only representative selected from the WCC this year.
