Pierre eyeing return at UFC 206
One day when all of that is going to be over, we’ll probably be friends, like most of the guys who I’ve fought. He insists that he wants to test himself and make another run through the UFC, not just make some bank and move on.
They weren’t just rumours of ongoing negotiations either. I fight in October, I could make it in December.
St. Pierre has won 12 straight fights and previously headlined UFC 129 at Rogers Centre in Toronto, which drew a then-record crowd of 55,724 in April 2011.
St-Pierre promises that this return to action isn’t just for one fight, but instead a full restart to his UFC career with goals to solidify the legacy he’s already started while becoming the most successful welterweight champion in the history of the sport. Nearly immediately following his victory, “The Chosen One” called for a matchup with either former champion Georges St-Pierre or cult icon Nick Diaz. “They know the terms that I want and trust me, I’m very reasonable”, said St-Pierre.
Speaking to TMZ Sports at the premiere of his film Kickboxer: Vengeance, St-Pierre said that he’s itching to return to UFC competition, and that he’s been training in preparation for a potential comeback at UFC 206 in Toronto, on December 10. He is now eyeing a possible fight against the champ, Tyron Woodley for the UFC welterweight championship. “Some people, I look at their page and all they do all day is go against African American athletes and try to racially slur them”.
“He doesn’t know anything about me”. “I’m a smart guy”. I understand what he means, and I’m not angry at Dana. “These things don’t work on me”, said St-Pierre.
According to “GSP”, his return to the octagon isn’t even a certainty at this point, never mind the identity of his opponent.
The middleweight title challenger fought and lost to Anderson Silva in one of MMA’s most weird bouts at UFC 112.
“I’m honored that he mentioned my name because he’s a legend”, Maia told MMA Fighting’s Guilherme Cruz. I do what I do for the best of my interests. I truly hope we see him compete again but there are still some significant hurdles to get over in order for that to happen.
In light of recent comments that St-Pierre made to MMAFighting, a much heftier dose of sodium would be required to make these murmurings in any way palatable.
