Pilot killed when plane crashes into Plainfield home

A plane has crashed into a house in a residential area, according to the Joliet Fire Department.

Carey said he had no information about those inside the plane. However the pilot was killed in the crash.

A video posted to Twitter showed smoke rising from the crash site.

A plane has reportedly crashed into a home in the Chicago suburb of Plainfield on Thursday, officials said.

The captain says it’s unclear so far if the plane struck any structures or vehicles but the department is investigating.

A small plane crashed into a Joliet house this morning, killing the pilot and any passengers he might have had with him or her and setting the house on fire.

The fire department in nearby Joliet confirmed it was responding to the 11:15 a.m. crash. The remains of the plane were seen smoldering in the street, and area residents were seen using garden hoses near the wreckage immediately following the crash.

“I heard some skidding and then all of a sudden my dining room wall blew out and flames were already in the house”.

Carey said early reports indicated that the plane hit the ground near the LA Fitness center at Theodore Street and Bronk Road. The NTSB will lead the investigation and determine the cause of the crash. “It’s just a few blocks from where I was standing”, he said.
