Pipeline Explosion Rocks South Texas, Sparks Massive Fire
A fire at a pipeline facility in southwest Texas sent massive flames into the sky early Friday.
A fiery natural gas pipeline explosion in South Texas has forced dozens of people from their homes and canceled classes at a nearby school.
Local fire and police authorities were monitoring the situation, the company said.
KSAT TV reported the blast happened around 4 a.m. a quarter mile west of the town of Encinal, about 20 miles north Laredo on Interstate 35.
Fox San Antonio has reached out to Lewis Energy Group and La Salle County officials for additional information.
Velma Davila, city manager, said there were no evacuations in place. As such, she welcomed any residents who don’t feel safe to seek shelter in city hall, reported Heart. A few have shown up due to the intense heat.
Lewis Energy group says it’s the result of a fire at their facility in that community. “No injuries have been reported”.
