Pittsburgh Steelers’ Ben Roethlisberger Out, Michael Vick — NFL News & Rumors
Flacco is a little bummed by that.
“I feel like I have a chance to go out and play freely and enjoy the game, enjoy this moment and be out there with my teammates”, Vick said. “I’m just trying to make strides in every area of my game”.
Even with that change, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh and the rest of his players have a good idea of what to expect in this heated rivalry – a hard-hitting clash that could come down to the game’s final play. You’ve got everybody’s team the way they really want it, and I think the fans feed into it more. At the end of the day, that’s what it’s all about.
“We’re going to work in his comfort zone and bring the game to him and put us in position to win football games”, Tomlin said. “As a competitor, it’s always nice to face guys that you’ve been going against for a while”, Flacco said. “You see a bunch of quarterbacks have already gone down so it’s just the nature of the game and we’ve got to battle through it. That’s why Mike’s here”. “Hopefully everything is going well with [Roethlisberger], and he’ll be out there as quickly as possible”. Michael Vick will start in his place.
Vick, a four-time Pro Bowler (2002, 2004, 2005, 2010), hasn’t been the same quarterback the past few years. However, after last year’s disastrous season with the New York Jets, there’s a lot of doubt Vick can come in and keep the high-powered Steelers offense operating at an efficient pace. He posted a 52.9 completion percentage during that time with 18 touchdowns to 13 interceptions.
Vick said he thinks it will “help tremendously” to focus on what’s left in the mix and Haley complimented the work Vick’s done to get a handle on the stripped-down scheme for this week. “We have a ton of them, a ton of good ones”.
“I was kind of stunned”, the Steelers’ backup quarterback said after finishing a 12-6 victory over the St. Louis Rams on Sunday. He is a fine quarterback.
Since 2000, the Ravens and the Steelers have played 30 times with each having 15 wins. Instead, they lost to Tommy Maddox and a new halfback, Willie Parker, 29-24 in Buffalo as the Steelers became the first AFC team to go 15-1.
Veteran backup Michael Vick might have the same cast of playmakers at his disposal, starting with running back Le’Veon Bell and wide receiver Antonio Brown.
After falling to 0-3 with a loss to the Bengals, the Ravens had just three days to prepare for a showdown with rival Pittsburgh on Thursday night. Pittsburgh has scored 30 or more points in five of their last six home games dating back to last season. He knows how good this team can be and he will do anything he can to help the team out.
NOTES: Tomlin declined to take issue with Barrons hit on Roethlisberger, pointing to a letter coaches received from the league about being critical of officials…. The Ravens will also get a long much need break.
