Pittsburgh Steelers CB Senquez Golson had shoulder surgery Friday; why he
Jeremy Fowler of ESPN said Golson “could be out for the season after undergoing shoulder surgery” although Tomlin “wanted to discuss the situation with doctors before forecasting missed time”. Coach Mike Tomlin said Friday he’s not certain what path the Steelers will follow when Golson begins rehabilitation. But Tomlin said the Steelers “had been communicating with those guys (Eagles) for quite some time” about the trade, hinting that the move wasn’t a direct response to Golson’s shoulder issues. “We thought it could be a great experience for him whether or not he was participating or not”. “That’s why we waited for the surgery”.
Golson was taken in the second round by the Steelers to improve the depth in a secondary that has not recorded more than 11 interceptions in a season since 2010.
Tomlin said the deal might have been made regardless of Golson’s status. “Speculation is never a good thing”. But because the Steelers have gotten thinner due to injury at the inside linebacker position, and because Wild is such a physical player, he has been transitioned to linebacker in the final week of training camp.
“Man, I could play out of Latrobe. I’m being (used) at both now, so we’ll see what happens”.
“Josh Harris hadn’t worked this week”.
For rookie B.J. Finney the opportunity to play in a game at Heinz Field is all part of a dream he’s already been living out at Steelers training camp.
At quarterback, Gradkowski is expected to make his 2015 debut after Ben Roethlisberger gives way.
