Plane carrying Christie delayed for several hours after passenger was removed
A flight carrying Republican presidential candidate Chris Christie was on Friday delayed after a passenger was removed from the flight bound for Boston.
The Christie campaign directed inquiries about the incident to United Airlines, which did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
United Airlines Flight 1108 was supposed to take off from San Francisco at 8:32 a.m. and everyone was on the plane, preparing for takeoff.
Christie’s spokesperson released a statement confirming the governor, an aide and someone from his security detail were on the plane when the traveler was taken off the plane.
Shortly after Comella’s statement was publicized online, Berlind clarified that his accounts of exactly what happened came from a different passenger who claimed to have been sitting next to Christie in first class.
Comella says at no point did the governor interact with the passenger, nor did the passenger pose a verbal or physical threat to Christie.
According to Boston’s Fox News affiliate, the plane eventually took off around 4:30 pm EST, but the question remains: What sort of vitriol had been exchanged between Christie and this supposed passenger? MyFoxBoston.com reported people were removed five at a time to be searched individually. The flight was boarding to depart for Boston by around 1 p.m. local time, airport spokesman Doug Yakel told the Daily News.
