Plane part falls from sky, lands on Mt. Holly golf course
It was dislodged from American Airlines Flight 1910 as the plane approached Charlotte Douglas global Airport, according to the FAA.
FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen said a golfer reported the 15-by-15-inch part fell about 8:20 a.m. Wednesday onto the Green Meadows Golf Course in Mount Holly.
American Airlines also maintained that the flight was never at risk.
At around 8.20am, a small door from a passing plane crash landed on the lawn at Green Meadows Golf Course in Mount Holly.
A golf course employee said that US Airways arrived and retrieved the piece before the FAA arrived on scene to investigate.
‘The panel door covers the hydraulic servicing area, which is not a pressurized area of the aircraft. The flight had left from Dallas and was preparing to land in Charlotte.
The flight landed safely in Charlotte, and the plane has been taken out of service for maintenance.
American Airlines released a statement about the incident Wednesday afternoon.
“The FAA says it is investigating.he green”, he said.
According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the golfers called the organization. It would not cause a flight safety issue, airline officials said.
