Planned Parenthood Files Federal Lawsuit to Protect Abortion in Ohio
Several large glass windows and a door at a Planned Parenthood center in St. Louis were shattered by a vandal Saturday morning, causing “thousands of dollars” in damages, according to the organization’s regional president and CEO.
Planned Parenthood filed suit Sunday against the state’s health director, accusing him of changing the interpretation of a state fetal tissue disposal rule.
The Ohio attorney general’s office said Friday that an investigation has found that either Planned Parenthood or companies with which it contracts in the state have disposed of aborted fetal parts in a landfill.
The attorney general’s office began an investigation five months ago after an anti-abortion group released videos it said showed Planned Parenthood officials negotiating prices for fetal tissue.
“It is either treated for sterilization or incinerated, and then disposed of”, Planned Parenthood said in a statement.
The pro-abortion rights group said DeWine threatened to take legal action against them.
Planned Parenthood filed a federal lawsuit Sunday to “protect abortion access” in OH following Attorney General Mike DeWine’s report that facilities in Cincinnati, Columbus and Cleveland improperly disposed of fetal remains.
The St. Louis Planned Parenthood is the only Missouri clinic providing abortions.
“Planned Parenthood handles fetal tissues just like other health care providers handle all sorts of medical material”.

Citing police and eyewitnesses, Kogut said the “disturbing” and “outrageous” act of vandalism appeared to be related to the prevention and abortion services Planned Parenthood provides.
The initial focus of the investigation was to determine if any clinics in the Buckeye state had illegally sold harvested fetal tissue; DeWine noted in his statement Friday that this was not the case. Neither agency receives any state money, although Planned Parenthood nationally does receive some money through the federal portion of the Medicaid program for healthcare services not involving abortions.
Planned Parenthood affiliates learned of the results of the investigation through the media, rather than through formal communication with the state’s Department of Health.
