Planned Parenthood sues Ohio in dispute over fetal tissue
She said fetal remains are “handled properly at Planned Parenthood”, but referred questions about what happens after that to the disposal company, adding, “You’re really asking a question for the disposal company”.
“Politicians in Ohio will stop at nothing to ban abortion in all cases in our state”, said Stephanie Knight, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio. No employees were hurt or inside at the time of the incident.
Citing police and eyewitnesses, Kogut said the “disturbing” and “outrageous” act of vandalism appeared to be related to the prevention and abortion services Planned Parenthood provides.
“We’re working it through over here”, he said. “As a health care provider, it’s very unfortunate that we even have to worry about this type of activity”. He said the goal was to find out more information on the St. Louis clinic’s abortion policies and procedures. This year has been filled with a lot of hateful rhetoric vile rhetoric and that’s creating a violent opposition to Planned Parenthood care and healthcare providers.
“It is unacceptable that folks have to fear for their safety when they are trying to access basic health care”, Tester said.
Planned Parenthood alleges Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine made “inflammatory and false allegations” on Friday about the organization improperly handling fetal tissue. The location will be up and running with boarded windows by Monday morning.
Planned Parenthood uses licensed medical removal companies who handle fetal tissue in accordance with OH laws, the group said.
Nationally and in Missouri, Planned Parenthood has been taking political fire for months, beginning with last summer’s release of a series of videos by an anti-abortion group.
Someone took small rocks from a south St. Louis Planned Parenthood clinic’s landscaping and used them to shatter glass windows of the building.
In Missouri, Planned Parenthood officials have said their agencies don’t participate in any tissue-donation programs.
OH is the second state to point to Planned Parenthood’s unlawfully disposing of aborted baby parts. Kurt Schaefer, R-Columbia, is threatening legal action because the St. Louis operation is declining to turn over abortion-procedure documents.
The organization is accusing the state’s health department of changing the interpretation of a fetal tissue disposal rule without notice and then unfairly targeting Planned Parenthood, violating its due process and equal protection rights.
