Plants vs Zombies Garden Warfare 2 Exclusive Gameplay

You can try it out yourself as the open beta for the cartoon-ish third-person shooter just went live on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Yes, the eagerly awaited “Garden Warfare: Plant vs. Zombies 2” open beta is going live this afternoon.

Looking at the details on the PlayStation Store, microtransactions will be a part of the game so they may show up in the beta. 24 player modes like Herbal Assault and Garden & Graveyards which will be playable on two maps like Moon Base Z and Seeds of Time.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare proved so popular, a sequel was inevitable. It’s supposed to be a pretty generous beta, and will conclude on Monday. The beta runs through Sunday, January 18 and lets players sample a smaller version of the Backyard Battleground, which is basically a hub area that acts as a menu and connects participants to every map and mode.

Old favorite characters will be available along with six new character classes – Kernel Korn, Rose, Citron, Imp & Z-Mech, Super Brainz, and Captain Deadbeard. Most characters and modes (Team Vanquish, Garden Ops, etc.) from the original Garden Warfare will be returning. “We came up with the idea that it was really important to keep our community together”, Duncan said.

Zombies: Garden Warfare 2 is out February 23 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
