Playmate slammed for cruelly sharing image of woman in gym shower
The Playboy model came under intense fire on Thursday after she posted a photo of a woman showering at an L.A. Fitness gym with the caption, “If I can’t unsee this you can’t either”. She said she never meant to broadcast the photo to the public and then deleted the image from her Snapchat. The photo was accompanied by a shot of Mathers covering her mouth in giddy delight. I will never do this again. Plus, gyms do not allow their members to photograph others in private areas, and once L.A. Fitness became aware of Mathers’ Snapchat, they took action. In other words, “she knows body shaming is wrong, but was going to do it anyway-just privately”, writes Sam Escobar at Good Housekeeping.
“You put her nude body on the internet without her permission for the sole goal of laughing at her. Now it’s been shared, screen shots have been made, bad people are using it to degrade her…and your apology rings hollow”.
The response was swift, with people on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook quickly rushing to condemn Mathers’ choice to post the photos.
We’ve also learned Mathers has been banned from LA Fitness, and not just locally.
The Playmate could also face charges for the photo as L.A. Fitness informed the Los Angeles Police Department of the incident. For a woman who claims to be about “empowering women”, this seems exceedingly… out of character, to say the least. A spokesperson told TMZ the company already notified police as such an invasion of privacy could, as The Cut mentions, get her in trouble with the law.
Mathers’ Twitter account has since disappeared, but a video on YouTube features several Snapchat posts of the model apologizing.
“I love and appreciate every one of you and know that everyone is handsome in their own way, that’s what makes us all so special”.
