PlayStation 4 drops to $350 in the US
Microsoft has made subsequent price cuts for its Xbox One, taking it as low as $350/€350, and now Sony is finally lowering the price of its PS4 too, albeit only for the North American markets.
A few users felt they were tricked into buying Destiny: The Taken King when the game showed up on their PS4s, among the array of games they have already purchased. The new recommended price for a standard PS4 is $349.99 Dollars / $429.99 CAD (around €309).
“Our goal at PlayStation has always been to offer the best place to play at a compelling value to gamers”, said Shawn Layden, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment America.
Overnight, Sony’s official Playstation Twitter announced that the PS4 will be cut in price from $399 to $349 effective October 9th, this Friday.
PlayStation are expected to announce a few major news at Paris Games week which kicks off on October 28th. We are continuing to deliver on that commitment with this new price for PS4, making the console even more accessible to a broader audience this holiday. The CoD: Black Ops III 1TB PS4 bundle will sell for $429.99 in the USA, only a $20 discount. They have dropped the price of PS4 bundles for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, Call of Duty: Black Ops 3, Disney Infinity 3.0, Star Wars Battlefront and National Hockey League 16. For Canadians, the price will be $429.99 CAD. Additionally, the company has confirmed the price drop will be reflected in all the hardware bundles coming out this Holiday season.
