PlayStation 4 Is Getting 50 Dollars (45 Euro) Price Cut
The PlayStation 4 recently received a price cut in Japan (where admittedly it is not selling anywhere near what it is here in the U.S.), so it seemed that a USA price cut might follow. The updated section in its video game hub reveals a $50 price drop on the PS4, making the console retail at $349.99 instead of $399.99.
Sony has not commented on the Target offer, and the company has been saying that it has no plans to cut the price of the PlayStation 4 in the coming months. In addition, the image used in the price drop banner is for Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection, which is not one of the titles that comes with a gift card.
After Sony announced the move at Tokyo Game Show, many around the industry, including Xbox boss Phil Spencer, speculated North America and Europe would soon be following Japan’s lead.
It’s worth pointing out that the $349 price featured on the Target website is nowhere to be seen now, so it may have been yanked already.
However, even if a price cut for the PlayStation 4 is announced in the next week or so, it still will probably be prudent to wait a bit.
Now though, U.S. retailer Target has confirmed that the new PS4 price in 2015 this Holiday season will be $349. By comparison, the Xbox One debuted at $500 (with a Kinect camera), but later dropped to $400 and then again to $350 where it stands today for the base model without the Kinect.
