Playstation Exec Leaves Sony (SNE) to Return to Game Development
Boyes announced his departure from Sony on the latest PlayStation Blogcast and on Twitter. Notably, Boyes starred alongside Sony Worldwide Studios President Shuhei Yoshida in a widely shared video poking fun at Microsoft’s presumptive plans to hobble the used games market prior to the launch of the Xbox One. He appeared on-stage at events like PlayStation Experience, E3 and Gamescom (when Sony still attended that) over the years, dropping major announcements along the way. He recently announced that he wants to go back to the game development world, and is grateful for the unbelievable time with Sony.
Adam Boyes, VP of Third Party Relations at PlayStation, announced yesterday that he’s leaving the company to return to games development.
In addition to tackling behind-the-scenes publishing initiatives, Boyes spent the last several years promoting Sony’s upcoming PlayStation VR headset. “I’d like to start out by thanking the incredible PlayStation Nation fans”, he wrote. “It’s been an wonderful run”, he said of his four years with Sony.
It was in a response to someone on Twitter that Adam Boyes made it clear that he was going to make games “on the independent side“.
“I’ve been here for over four years and had an incredible, incredible experience here”, he points out.
In announcing his departure from Sony, Boyes said in the PlayStation Blogcast episode: “I’ve made the super hard decision to leave PlayStation”. My wife says, ‘why would you leave?
