PlayStation Now Service Getting PS4 Games This Year
Sony PlayStation Now, which was unveiled at CES 2014, currently hosts a series of PS3 games for PS4 and PCs.
Brian Dunn, senior marketing manager of PlayStation Now, said on Monday that they’ll be adding PlayStation 4 games to the PS Now streaming service in 2017. The addition of the PS4 game titles is expected to be standard add-ons and not premium ones – meaning they could cost higher.
Despite some serious promise, Sony’s cloud based gaming service PlayStation Now, never really got people excited.
Sony has announced that the PS Now service that allows players to enjoy PS3 games is now expanding to offer PS4 titles as well.
Subscription service PlayStation Now is expanding its remit to include current PlayStation 4 games as well as those from the PlayStation 3 back catalogue.
Sony doesn’t give a date for the PS4 roll out on PlayStation Now, nor does it give us any idea of what games to expect to see on the service. If you’re an active PS Now subscriber, keep an eye on your email.
Adding PS4 games to the service seems to be Sony’s way of making the first few strides towards making good on that promise. The service now features 483 PS3 games.
What’s also interesting is that Sony rolled out a list of the most popular PS Now games for February, giving gamers a quick heads-up about what others are playing. All you will need is a PC and a strong enough internet connection to try and counter the latency of streaming gameplay. Sony is apparently considering discontinuing support of PlayStation Now on a number of devices, which include the PS Vita and PS TV.
When will PlayStation Now PS4 games be available to play? According to the company they wanted to focus their interest to PS4 and Windows PC.
If you happen to own both a PS4 and a PC, then cloud save support will allow you to switch platforms as much as you want without losing progress.
