PlayStation virtual reality system going on sale in October
The PlayStation 4-only virtual reality headset will be available to pre-order again for $399 sometime this summer.
Developers are also due to announce more VR support, including Bethesda who has unveiled a VR version of Fallout 4.
Sony Interactive Entertainment America revealed a lineup of exclusive games including “Batman: Arkham VR” from RockSteady and Warner Bros Interactive Entertainment, “Star Wars Battlefront: X-Wing VR Mission” from Electronic Arts (EA), and “Farpoint” from Impulse Gear.
“What we can say is that we have a fertile ground of 40m PS4s, all of which will run PlayStation VR”. Now that we’re finally in the midst of E3 2016, we can’t even imagine how they’re going to top last year’s jaw dropping press conference. The upcoming Resident Evil 7 will be fully playable in VR when it releases next January. For example, it showed a smooth transition between first-person shooting and space vehicle combat.
The company is expecting shortage of the new device. The game is set on an alien world where your character has crash-landed and needs to keep moving and exploring to survive. Farpoint was shown at the event along with a controller that could be more interesting than the game itself called the PS VR Aim controller. I thought some more and realized that it looks like a Wii Zapper with a sun-dried clown nose on the end of it. Aside from the analog stick being placed away from the trigger, that’s what it honestly looks like.
Xbox chief Phil Spencer shared that Microsoft’s goal is to bring 4K gaming and high-end VR to a console, according to The Verge.
Sony headed into the E3 conference as a market leader, having sold more than 40 million PS4 consoles since they launched in late 2013. The firm also teased its powerful Project Scorpio gaming system, which will support high-definition 4K video and VR and is due for release by Christmas next year.
