Playstation VR Less Than A Month Away
We recently reported that Sony will be holding an event in March to reveal more details on their PlayStation VR system but a leak may have just confirmed the price of the upcoming device.
With so much press surrounding the Oculus Rift and HTC’s Vive VR, it’s easy to forget that a third major player is looming on the horizon. PlayStation CEO Andrew House has been quoted as saying, in a September 2015 interview, that the PSVR will be “priced as a new gaming platform”.
Sony’s affinity with the GDC conference in San Francisco in relation to its PlayStation 4 powered virtual reality headset PlayStation VR is a strong one. Oculus Rift should arrive in late March, and HTC Vive lands in April, so Sony would have to move fast to get PlayStation VR into shops around the same time. “Its a big launch (for VR), we’re getting ready for it, we will launch the Sony product this fall, and we are in discussions with the other two players”. Sony’s virtual reality headset was first announced, as Project Morpheus, at GDC 2014 so it makes sense that the company would want to unveil the final version at this year’s GDC. Sony will also offer hands-on demonstrations during the event.
A Czech website has a listing for the PlayStation VR headset, a system which will link with your PS4 to allow you to dive into virtual reality worlds and explore them with your controller. Apple is organizing a press event that everyone believes will be the moment when the company showcases its next iPad and the fabled iPhone 5se.
