PlayStation VR to Cost More Than the Oculus Rift?
Unfortunately, there is no detail right now about how many games Sony plans to launch alongside PlayStation VR, but Sony’s CEO Kazuo Hirai has mentioned various details about the development process, including the number of games currently in development and how many developers are already partnering with Sony to launch games. But, to look at just headset price is ignoring the cost of equipment needed to power it. This is where the PSVR comes into its own. Gamers and Sony fans were disappointed not to receive new information on the company’s next VR device. Hirai noted that developers are “working on 100 or more titles” for the PlayStation VR.
VR is still an untapped market and it will be interesting to see if it can really be as popular as these companies predict. With how expensive the Oculus Rift is, that might prevent VR from becoming popular with the masses…
NASA also beleives that, instead of a simulation, PlayStation VR will be able to provide a live feed to a robot in space, complete with “ghost hands” to indicate movement delay. The device could have a price tag close to the PlayStation 4’s $399 launch price, reported IBN Live. Whats interesting here is the fact that Sony chose not to discuss the PlayStation VR at CES, despite the fact that the headset is due out during the first half of this year.
As previous reports and leaks showed, Sony PlayStation VR will work together with the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation camera.
With the virtual gaming race now in full swing we’re sure it won’t be too long until Sony reveals all about the PlayStation VR.
That’s lower than the Rift and Vive’s 2160×1200, even though PSVR outdoes them both with a 25% faster screen refresh rate of 120Hz.
International Business Times reported that 2016 will be the year the virtual reality market will thrive.
That being said, modern virtual reality will always have its roots in gaming.
