Pleasant Grove High on lockdown
PLEASANT GROVE Pleasant Grove High School was put on lockdown Thursday afternoon after hearing reports of a student with a gun, officials said. It was entitled, ‘People I Want to Kill’. “I trust that it’s in good hands and they are taking care of the situation”, Charity Heinecke said.
Police say the gun turned out to be an air soft pistol.
Based upon the initial investigation the Police Department is confident that there were no other students involved in the incident or the creation of the list.
“The main focus of our investigation will be not only the list, but on any substantial steps that may have been taken beyond just that list”, Depue said. However, several parents and students expressed doubts on the school’s security measures questioning how a firearm made its way through the installed metal detectors at the school’s entrances. The BB gun was inoperable, school officials said.
The Police Department has opened an investigation and is working with the school district and the child’s parents to investigate the incident.
Police said no other students were involved.
Martin says no one was harmed by the weapon and there is no immediate threat to the school.
